Skin care in the summer months

What does our skin lack in the summer and how to spoil it?

The summer months are a challenging test for our skin that we should never underestimate. Whether you are on a sunny holiday in the tropics or discovering the beauty of nature, the sun is always stronger than it seems. With that come risks that are worth our attention and that can affect the condition and function of our skin.

Therefore, in addition to external skin protection, we should not underestimate the internal one. Healthy skin protects our body from mechanical damage, harmful substances, invasion of microorganisms and shines. It is also an essential part of the immune system and is very important for our psyche and our physical attractiveness. So before we come to the topic how to spoil our skin with cosmetics and natural creams, we should not forget what food we eat or what vitamins we take. The interconnection of suitably chosen cosmetics and a balanced diet, supplemented by important nutrients, supports a strong relationship between our condition and health. So let’s go deeper in the topic what we shouldn’t forget on beautiful sunny days when the sun is shining on our sensitive skin!

First, let’s focus on nutrients. We should concentrate on vitamins, carotenoids and polyunsaturated fatty acids. It is scientifically proven that enough of these nutrients provide protection against ultraviolet radiation, the main source of which is the sun. These nutrients have also been shown to be beneficial for the formation of immune cells, that helps us to protect our skin from the sun. However, this does not mean that we do not have to use protective sunscreens. They protect our skin much more significantly. It only means that we must not neglect our diet for completely healthy skin.

And where to look for these nutrients? So let’s talk about it step by step – vitamins, carotenoids and polyunsaturated fatty acids.

Vitamins that protect our skin from the sun shine and are also natural antioxidants are vitamins E and C. They work best when combined. Vitamin E is available as a natural food supplement and we can find it in nuts, butter, milk, vegetable oils or avocados. Vitamin C is one of the most important vitamins in our body. You can find the most of this vitamin in citrus fruits, kiwi, black currant, pepper but also in rose hips.

Carotenoids are natural antioxidants and we should not forget to pay attention to them. They are also very important in preventing eye disorders and cancer. You can find them in fruits and vegetables, such as tomatoes, lettuce, oranges, apricots, but also in carrots and pumpkins.

The last very significant nutrient component is polyunsaturated fatty acids. They are healthy fats and you can find them mainly in fatty sea fish (salmon, cod), olive and rapeseed oil, walnuts, but also in many dairy products and meat.

Now let’s look at the second part of our skin protection – what nourishing creams are suitable in the summer months and when exposing our skin to the sun. Suitable are products that are light and moisturizing. From Biotra cosmetic products it can be, for example, Mineral Moisturizing Day Cream. To have hydrated and supple skin, we should give it proper care with the help of regenerative moisturizing masks with a concentration of active ingredients – Cleansing Mask. After a sunny day you can spoil your skin with a soothing bath with Orange Blossom soap, which is rich in Dead Sea minerals and the already mentioned vitamin E. And how to supply the skin with energy, vitamins and nourishing oils at once? Take advantage of the popular Energizing Body Splash, which is rich in protein and soothing ingredients of Aloe vera.

Take a step forward and don’t forget the inner and outer protection of your skin. Sufficient nutrients will not only help you to take care of your skin but also a healthy lifestyle, and it pays off!
